Background:

The Post 9010 Scholarship began in 2002 and has continued annually since that time.  Established to assist with post-secondary education costs, the program  has awarded $127,250 in scholarships to qualified applicants through 2017.  In 2013 the members voted to place a $12,000 annual cap on the program and to limit each awardee to a lifetime  total award not to exceed $4,000.  Additionally, each member was limited to a maximum sponsorship amount not to exceed $20,000.

 

Eligibility:

Eligibility for the program is limited to direct descendants of the sponsor; i.e., sons, daughters, grandchildren, etc.  Eligible applicants must be accepted into a post-secondary program at a certified college, university, community college, trade school, etc., and complete the Post 9010 Scolarship application.

 

Applications:

Applications are available at Post 9010 beginning in January of each year.  It is an annual application process so, even if the applicant has received a scholarship in a previous year , a new application is required.  COMPLETED APPLICATIONS MUST BE RETURNED TO THE POST NO LATER THAN THE FIRST TUESDAY OF MAY OF EACH YEAR.  Applications must include the name and address of the financial department where the check will be sent and any applicable information from the school regarding the completion and submission of scholarship checks.   A photo of the applicant is required with the appliacation.

 

Process:

Applications are reviewed and voted on by a Board compromised of Post members during June.  Awards hiostorically have ranged from $500-$1000 annually.  Approved applicants are notified after the approval process is complete.  Checks are sent to the institution in early August.
